1P Bargains-.part 3. Jean Michel jarre-Live Docklands 1988

I remember this well. I remember I had to tape this for my brother at the time-he was at the said concert, at the time I was very familar with his studio work. With the docklands concert i think it was the first time jarre had brought his concerts to london. Listening to the music some of it is quite powerful and you dont need to watch the video to understand the impact the music was having. industrial Revolutions sounds brilliant in all its glory. I think the concert draws a line from his earlier groundbreaking work and more towards his stadium concerts years. Its a very good album, even features hank marvin on london kid.

Rangers FC- Just like starting over....?

On this site there has not been alot of football posts of late. However there has been one story that has been on the front of the football tabloids for some time. Over the last few years there has been such a heavy reliance on the revenues that tv rights bring that most clubs offset there debts against future revenues. About 20 years ago the teams in the top division were very much focused on the area of the country that team was from and in most set ups there was alot of home grown talent. Over the years with the TV playing such a big part in the overall picture many players have arrived from various countries and so the level of the leagues has raised considerably. In scotland especially in the early s onwards there started to become a difference in lower league sides feileding sides of mostly scottish players, where as the top clubs started to introduce players from the premier and other countries. I would say that Rangers were a little more pro-active in foriegn players. With the influx of players there was added wage bills. My main concern for Rangers was when they intorduced Tore andre Flo from chelsea. This was along time ago but to attarct the players they wanted they were obviously not balancing the books. Which obviously brings us to the situation that is unfolding at the moment, Due to tax bills and other issues Rangers went into administration and liquidation and are now forming a new company and trying to start in the top division. The new owners obviously a trying to spend a season out of the top flight. But to me this sets a dangerous precident , it literally invalidates all the lower league teams promotion and relegation issues. It creates an impression that financial mismanagement can be brushed under the carpet and only a one demotion will be inflicted. I think in terms of scottish football there may be one or two clubs who follow the rangers lead and go down the same route. It also to me indicates that there will be celtic dominance for a few years, but some other scottish clubs will be challenign and maybe might do better in europe. Instead of it being the big two for two-three years there could be another team pushing and challenign celtic. I have to say that Ally mccoist came out in a bbc article outlining that he feels that ranegrs have a better chance if they start from division threee. i think he is right, but it would alo be intresting to see rangers playing alloa and east stirling. They off course would be a new company but would feel a sense of injustice and would probably gain back to back promotions. But it would be like witnessing arsenal in division 3. Intresting to see what happens in the next few weeks.

Richard H Kirk-hypnotic 12 mix

Tom petty-Love is a long road

recently played on the isle of wight, love some of his album tracks. Sort of re-evaluation

The 1 Pence...Bargains...No. 2. Depeche Mode-Singles 1981-85

Depeche Mode - What a band and what back catalogue. I thinks its fair to say there were alot of us that grew up with them. From the early poppy days of tracks like New Life and See you. Then the sort of metaliic period of people are people and master and servant. Thats the things about this album it was released in the 1980s with the above cover and then reissued in the 90s with a different sleeve. In listening to the tracks you can see that even thought the songs were getting less poppier, they were also getting darker. My best tracks on here are 'Shake the disease' and' Its called a heart'. a really good cds, earlier tracks sound dated.

The 1 Pence...Bargains...No. 1 the passengers-original soundtracks

The First of the albums to be listed, as stated in a previous post I have ammased a collection of various cds, but what i tend to do is bide my time in trying to get the cds to finish off my collection. I have been finding ebay to be to pricey and that Amazon being the best. In all the cds listed , the maximum that was paid for any of the cds i list was 40pence, with . postage. Its a bit self indulgent, but I will review each album that I end up with. Obviously these are back catalogue releases. Some more current that other. 1. Passengers-original soundtracks
Now looking back at 1995. U2 had just completed the actung baby and zooropa albums. There sound although still commercial was moving towards other genres. In some respects the Eno influence had always been there in the albums prior to this album. it was decided that some of there recently recorded songs were just far to leftfield to be released as a normal U2 album. So there tracks were devised as tracks from various soundtracks. the single 'Miss sarajevo@ was a brilliant track for the time featuring the production skills of eno and the voice of Bono and Pavaorotti. Quite a nice album and one that is easy to listen to when working on computers, sort of background music . Good album

Search engines -they all lead back to....google

What i am finding at the moment is that to try and find new information out about certain muscial bands you need access to more information. the problem is that a few years ago there was a multitude of various search engines. Now there is a limited few. IAlthough its common to say ask google, where are the alternatives.
