re-evaluation - part 12 Human League

You may be thinking what are they doing here? Human League for the period 1977-1984. Influenced initially by german electronic bands they forged ahead with a similar sound from sheffield at the height of the punk explosion. They of course were having some successes as band until the girl singers joined. Albums like'Travelogue' and singles like Being Boiled, match bands like Kraftwerk at that time.

In 1980 they introduced the singers and Jo Callis, Jo callis was a major contributor with the songs and initaially they were still stuck between the experimental and the desire to be successful. This bore fruition in 1981 with the album ' Dare' which of course featured 'Dont you want me'.

For me the Human league released singles like 'Sound of the crowd' and non singles like 'things that dreams are made of'. They released catchy songs and went onto the 1984 album Hysteria. But then the band sort of fragmented. They were getting more influenced with soul and dance, which I have to admit didnt really fit their style.
The 'Love and Dancing ' 1982, was probably the first remix dance album and predated Pet shop Boys discon series by a good 4 years.

A band of their time. Still touring, still releasing records
