One of the best new bands around, well I say New they have been around for about 10+ years now. Initially I heard of them around the time of 2000 when they had just released the album 'Felt mountain'. Was sort of in the vain of Portishead, but the album did contain some good tracks.
What blew me away was the album from 2003 called 'Black Cherry'. A almost complete album it featured hits like 'Twist', 'Strict Machine '. Tracks that were dance and other tracks that were atmopsheric. In some ways I think Goldfrapp probably influenced other acts alot bigger (say for example Madonna). Where Goldfrapp was embracing old trends and making them a bit more fashionable.Glam etc, also adopting old 70s songs as covers 'yes sir I can boogie ' for example.
Will Gregory is the man behind the sound of Goldfrapp , I read somewhere he has a thing for old keyboards. Which I suppose are then merged with new technology. Goldfrapp released the album 'Supernature' which featured 'Oh la la ' and they followed that album with 'Seventh Tree'. This year they have released the album 'Head First'.Intresting to see where they go next.
