The 6th band I am collecting. Not an obvious choice, I have to say their recordings are very expensive to buy even in cd form. Luckily for me most of the artwork is black and white for most of their albums, so that has enebaled me to fill in the gaps.
The beatles first few records were smashes of the time, there was truly no band that could match them. I find the first few albums very hit and miss. But obviously of the time they were outstanding. Its the 1966-70 era that I find the best, especially the George Harrison composistions.
The Beatles went from producing hits, to still producing hits but with a more unique production and some different instrumentation.(sitars). That is to their credit that they followed their own path until the end. For me 'The White album' and 'Abbey road' are my favourites.
The Lennon and Mccartney songwriting partnership will never be surpassed or equalled . The song writing to the techniques , some still sound as fresh today , yet recorded 40 years ago
