In the post 80s and 90s Roxy Music were viewed for their commercial output and not their truly groundbreaking albums. I noticed a slight shift in the mid 90s with bands like Suede who were starting to acknowledge them as an influence. Roxy Music influenced bands like Simple Minds to bands like Cabaret Voltaire. There are so many eras of Roxy Music, the glam and eno period, the sort of Lounge Lizard phase, then they albums towards the end that sort of linked to Bryan Ferry's solo work.
Roxy Music is quite an expensive band to collect, most cds are going for about 5-6 a time. In terms of the years they were together, they didnt release that many studio albums and a big percentage of their catalogue is live albums and best of.
Phil Manzenera is such a under-rated guitarist. Roxy Music have reformed and will be playing concerts aroud the world this year and on my homeland the Isle Of Wight. I just hope one day that studio album see's the light.
